AFL Range of OTDRs & Test Equipment

Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDRs) and fault locators from AFL are used to certify new fiber installations and locate faults in deployed fiber optic networks. OTDRs and fault locators are available for single-mode long-haul, metro, and access networks, including FTTx PONs. OTDRs are used by network installation and maintenance technicians to scan fiber optic networks from one end of the fiber, display a trace, locate and measure detected events such as splices, connectors, splitters, macro-bends and fiber end. Fiber length, loss, and ORL is reported along with location, loss and reflectance of detected events. OTDRs are available with an integrated visual fault locator (VFL), optical light source (OLS), and/or optical power meter (OPM). OTDR results can be saved and uploaded to PC for archiving and/or further analysis using TRM 2.0 Test Results Manager PC software.

  • Performance-packed: With SmartAuto multi-pulse acquisition, up to 37 dB dynamic range and best-in-class 20 m PON dead zone, FlexScan PON OTDRs test FTTH PONs up to 1:64 while still detecting and measuring events only meters apart. User-friendly: FlexScan OTDRs enable both novice and expert technicians to quickly, reliably and accurately detect, locate, identify and measure optical network components and faults. After applying industry-standard or user-set pass/fail criteria, the network is displayed using FlexScan’s intuitive, icon-based LinkMap view. Acquired results may be stored internally or externally. FlexScan automates test setup, shortens test time and simplifies results interpretation, improving efficiency and reducing the cost of test. Pocket-sized: At 3.5 x 6 x 1.75 in. (86 x 160 x 43 mm) and less than one pound (0.4 kg), FlexScan OTDRs truly fit in your pocket, yet still provide a large, bright indoor/outdoor touchscreen display and all-day operation.
  • The CS260-10 Contractor Series Live PON OTDR is an ideal tool for fiber optic  technicians installing, activating and troubleshooting FTTx PON distribution and drop fibers from the splitter to the ONT.
The CS260-10 provides an out-of-band 1625 nm OTDR with filtered detector, enabling Live PON testing without disrupting service on an active PON. It additionally includes an integrated PON power meter to automatically detect and measure downstream 1490 and 1550 nm signal levels.
The CS260-10 is also suitable for out-of-service testing. As longer wavelengths are more sensitive to bending losses, the CS260-10 OTDR will detect excess losses induced by micro- or macro-bends.
